There are a number of spectacular processions over the Easter period passing through the narrow streets of
the old city pulling/pushing or carrying religious floats depicting the crucifixion of Jesus, acompanied by penitants
covered from head to toe including hoods & long pointed hats/masks walking silently to simple drumbeats
There was applause when this float was levitated by the men underneath & proceeded to sway down the street past our hotel

The candle carrying penitants are accompanied by children who trim the candles
& balls of the collected wax are passed out to children in the audience
